Cataracts mostly occur in older people.A cataract is an opaque or cloudy area in the lens of the eye.
The proteins in the eye become denatured, they then coagulate and and form opaque areas in place of the normal transparent protein fibers.
The cataracts will then obscure light and thus difficulty in vision seen in patients with cataracts.
The management of cataracts involves surgical removal of the lens, and when this happens, the eye normally looses its refractive power. This then requires the lens to be replaced with a powerful convex lens which is normally artificial.
Patients will be able to continue with their life normally after the surgery.
